Real World VR has been hosting high-quality XR-VR/AR events & VR festivals since 2016, partnering with Transitions Film Festival VR & the Melbourne International Film Festival. The Real World XR Awards acknowledges the talent and celebrates outstanding achievements in X Reality- virtual, augmented and mixed reality & brings together a night of highlights to celebrate excellence of the most influential names in immersive technology.

This category is open to all countries and is an "International" Award. Creating an immersive, spatial and original virtual reality film is very new territory for many filmmakers. All nominations must substantially feature virtual reality to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for the viewer. Can include short film, interactive pieces and design work within VR.
This category is open to Australian Virtual Reality Filmmakers only & will be judged on quality, content and originality. All nominations must feature virtual reality to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for the viewer. Can include short film, interactive pieces and design work within VR.
Well executed Augmented Reality experiences are able to bring spaces or objects to life. Creators of engaging AR content can transport digital objects into the real world. This category is open to commercial and creative work.
This award is for artists working with VR/AR/XR in the experimentation and creation of ambitious artworks that push the limits of technology to engage audiences in new ways. Works can be either be permanent or temporary installations and consider the real world and virtual sensory experience.
The XR Social & Environmental Impact Award is given to companies or individuals that produce and execute either an experience, product and or service which has resulted in positively impacting a community or cause for social or environmental good.
The Diversity in XR award is given to companies or individuals that produce and execute either an immersive experience (virtual, augmented, mixed reality) work and or service which has resulted in positively impacting a diverse group (eg; women in XR, LGBTIQA+, etc.), & or community/society.
Immersive sound in XR productions is what makes films and experiences come to life. VR experiences, performances, content and installations are brought to life with skilfully crafted immersive audio.
Focusing on the use of Virtual & Augmented Reality within games is the VR/AR Game of the year award. This combines the ingenuity and creativity that it takes to make a successful game along with the innovative use of movement that makes an experience worthwhile.
Incorporating new XR technologies into retail, eCommerce & marketing campaigns. Judges look towards eCommerce, software platforms, retailers,, agencies, and marketing campaigns that integrate XR (AR/VR) within the majority of the project. Particular focus is placed on originality, innovation, and creativity.
Location-based VR Experience of the Year Award acknowledges high quality experiences including Art Installations, VR Theme Parks, VR Arcades, VR eSports, VR Rooms & Immersive installations which has resulted in a high level of user satisfaction, engagement and immersion. Works can be either be permanent or temporary installations and consider the real world and virtual sensory experience.
This award recognises the positive outcomes of X Reality technologies (Virtual & Mixed Reality & Artificial Intelligence) used in education and training, awarding both B2B and B2C solutions.
